Newsletter Vol 10 - September 2006

The 2nd RIISC National Conference was held in Sydney on the 23 August.  The theme was Grow and Maintain your Workforce and was well attended by industry delegates representing all RIISC sectors, from across Australia and New Zealand.  A diverse array of high level industry and special topic speakers provided the assembled delegates with significant food for thought.

The presentation topics were wide ranging, including a strategic outlook for an industry sector, statistical analyses of workforce demographics, maintenance of our skills base, attraction of non-traditional sections of the population into our sectors, an insight into initiatives to grow and maintain a workforce in NZ, a case study on the implementation of industry related training and the motivation of a national workforce from all walks of life.

The question and answer sessions provided the delegates with an opportunity to extract further relevant information from the speakers, all of whom responded well to the queries.

Feedback has been very positive and we are maintaining the theme for the 3rd National Conference to be held in Sydney on 22 August 2007.
