RII31009 Certificate III in Bituminous Surfacing

Introduction

Descriptor

This qualification reflects the role of a skilled operator working in bituminous surfacing in civil construction, who applies a broad range of skills in a varied work context, using some discretion and judgement and relevant theoretical knowledge. The individual may provide theoretical advice and support a team.

Packaging Rules

Requirements for completion of the qualification
The following table provides the packaging rules for this qualification, followed by the list of relevant units of competency.

Successful completion of twenty five (25) units of competency made up of:

  • fourteen (14) mandatory units, and
  • eleven (11) elective units of which:
    • at least ten must come from the electives listed below including at least three (3) bituminous surfacing units at Certificate III level (CBS3) OR at least two (2) bituminous surfacing units at Certificate III level (CBS3) and one (1) at Certificate IV level (CBS4)
    • up to one (1) unit may come from Certificate II, Certificate III of Certificate IV level from this, or any other Training Package

Units chosen must be relevant to the job function.
Care must be taken to ensure that all prerequisites specified within imported units, or units chosen as electives, are complied with.
