Issue Title: TITLE: RIIRIS402A ‘Unit descriptor’ amended to include reference to Civil Construction
Unit Code:
Reference Number: RII09U0331
Initiator: Mario Marks
Action: Referred to Coal Metalliferous and Civil Construction Training Package Working Parties
Comments History:

12/05/2011 - Mario Marks

Main Road WA had recently adopted the Nation Training module RIIRIS402 – Carry out the risk management process as a prerequisite unit in order to be issued Main Roads WA’ Advanced Worksite Traffic Management accreditation. The primary role of a personal that holds Main Roads WA’ Advanced Worksite Traffic Management accreditation is to design new traffic control guidance plan for roadworks and /or inspect traffic control plan on any roads construction sites. The key responsibility of a traffic control guidance plan designer is to determining the risk management process, identifying hazards, assessing risk, identifying unacceptable risk and potential actions, deciding on, implementing or facilitating of actions, reviewing the implementation of action, auditing the risk management process, and completing records and reports as applied to roads construction sites. Main Roads WA considers that this unit is applicable to those working in a supervisory and risk management technical role within the civil construction sector. No other RIIRIS nation training module could be identified as been suitable. Main Roads WA therefore requests that due consideration to be given to have the RIIRIS402A ‘Unit descriptor’ and for the ‘Application of the unit’ to be extended to include reference to civil construction in addition to the coal and metalliferous mining industries.
